Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers are the heart of our organization, ensuring that our youth programs run smoothly and provide a positive experience for all participants. Each family is required to contribute 3 hours of volunteer time per season. If you cannot fulfill this requirement, you may opt-out for a $100 fee per registrant.

Below are the various ways you can get involved and make a difference:

Head Coaches & Assistant Coaches

Coaching is one of the most impactful ways to contribute. Coaches are responsible for:

  • Preseason Support: Assisting with player evaluations to ensure balanced teams.
  • Practice & Games: Planning and running practices twice weekly and coaching during weekend games.

Coaches must complete all requirements per NVYLL and USA Lacrosse guidelines, including:

  • Membership: An active USA Lacrosse coach membership.
  • Certification: Completing the NVYLL Coaches Code of Conduct and Coach Certification Survey.
  • Training: Attendance at the NVYLL Coaches Clinic and completion of the CDC Concussion Training course.

Note: All requirements must be verified and completed before approval to coach.

Team Managers

Team Managers play a vital role in team organization and communication. Responsibilities include:

  • Coordination: Managing game-day volunteers for scoring, timekeeping, and field setup/breakdown.
  • Team Communication: Assisting coaches by sharing updates on practice and game schedules or other team-related needs.

Scorers & Timekeepers

Scorers and Timekeepers ensure games run smoothly and are a perfect opportunity for those who enjoy being part of the action. Duties include:

  • Game Operations: Operating the scoreboard and keeping track of game time.

Field Helpers

Field Helpers ensure that games run smoothly by preparing and maintaining the field setup. Responsibilities include:

  • Pre-Game Setup: Arriving early to set up field equipment, such as goals, cones, scoreboards, and sideline markers.
  • Post-Game Breakdown: Assisting with dismantling and storing equipment after games to keep everything organized for future use.
